During maritime trade fair Europort 2013 in Rotterdam the Norwegian manufacturers of[ds_preview] propulsion and manoeuvring equipment Brunvoll and Finnøy Gear & Propeller will showcase their wide range of advanced propulsion technologies. Together with their German representation Steinbach Ingenieur-technik they provide optimized solutions for the specific requirements of special purpose ships such as fishing, cruise, naval, merchant and offshore vessels, as well as mega yachts. Furthermore, the Norwegian consulting company Metizoft will broaden the expertise on the joint booth at Europort trade fair (hall 7, booth 7210).

Brunvoll’s portfolio comprises tunnel thrusters, azimuth retractable thrusters, low-noise thrusters as well as thruster control and drive systems. One of the recent orders was given by Royal Caribbean International: The cruise line decided on four FU 115 LTC 3000 bow thrusters with each 3,500 kW for the Quantum Class vessels currently built at Meyer Werft in Papenburg. Also, German cruise company Aida chose Brunvoll’s tunnel thrusters for its existing fleet and the two ships in construction at Mitsubishi shipyard.

Currently, Brunvoll develops and optimizes further units of its tunnel thrusters (FU 120 3500; 3,000–4,000 kW) and azimuth retractable thrusters (AR 115 2900; 2,300–3,000 kW), to be launched in 2014. In order to enable complete delivery of thruster units combined with main propulsion equipment including gears, shaft line and propeller, Brunvoll has extensive collaboration with Finnøy Gear & Propeller. Another cooperation with Finnish Steerprop allows to offer azimuth propulsion combined with maneuvering equipment. While Steerprop delivers the azimuth propulsion, Brunvoll provides the thrusters for maneuvering. In addition to mechanical equipment, the cooperation includes delivery of control and automation systems as well as after-sales services.

Since 1998 Steinbach Ingenieurtechnik (SI-Technik) acts as planning and sales office as well as service provider in ship-related equipment. In 2011, the Ratzeburg-based company also started to represent Metizoft. The Norwegian consulting firm delivers turn-key solutions in regards to Green Passport and the IHM (Inventory of Hazardous Materials) convention. This new regulation requires to have a registration of all components and materials known to be potentially hazardous utilized in the construction of the ship, its equipment, and systems. The responsibility also falls on the successive owner of the ship. In close cooperation with the largest classification companies Metizoft provides an IHM / Green Passport approval and verification service for both newbuilds and existing vessels.

Furthermore, Steinbach Ingenieurtechnik acts as sales representative for MMC Green Technology. The Norwegian company’s ballast water management system is based on particle filtration and UV treatment.
