Tamrotor Marine Compressors (TMC), a supplier of compressed air systems for marine[ds_preview] and offshore use, is now offering custom-engineered compressors for the topside installation, that are compliant with all the requirements for offshore use, the company said. According to TMC, the custom-engineered compressors have a capacity range of 10–55m3/min, are approved for non-hazardous zone and EZ zone 1 and 2 installations. The compressors are compact with low noise level, can be delivered with electric, diesel-driven and hy-draulic systems and can be water or air cooled. The compressors are approved by all major class societies, are ATEX certified and meet NORSOK requirements. All docu-mentation requirements for offshore use are maintained in the renowned TMC documenta-tion system.
TMC custom-engineered compressors were recently chosen by Jurong Shipyard in Singapore for a series of seven drillships to be operated by Sete Brazil. The fourteen topside compressors will be containerised, diesel-driven, air cooled and used in connection with the burner boom operation. Furthermore, the TMC Smart Air compressors utilise the latest energy-saving technology. They should enable to precisely adjust the production of compressed air according to the compressed air demand. The result is considerable cost savings on energy, reduced lifecycle costs and a substantial reduction in CO2 emission, the company said. Compared to conventional compressors, TMC Smart Air compressors should offer a reduction in energy consumption of at least 40 to 50%.
