The first piece of steel was cut at Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany for the first ship with the construction[ds_preview] number S. 711 for Asian operator Star Cruises. Tan Sri Lim, Chairman of Star Cruises, pushed the button of the plasma torch as the first plate of steel was cut in the yard’s facility »laser center«.

The delivery of the ship is planned for autumn 2016. The sister ship will be delivered one year later. Each ship will be approx. 151,000 gt and have a capacity of approx 4,500 passengers. With a length of 324m and a breadth of 39.7m they will reach a trail speed of about 23kn. They are designed for the fast growing Asian cruise market.

The management and project teams of both Star Cruises and Meyer Werft took part in the ceremony for the first steel cut.
