The operating result increased more than the revenue, which rose by 1.2% in the first quarter to 296.9mill. €. Container throughput declined by 6.2% to 1.7mill. TEU.

»The 2015 financial year started well for us. We were able to continue last year’s upward trend in both revenue and earnings. Our Intermodal companies have performed particularly well, and are playing an increasingly important role within the Group. This once again shows that our strategy of vertical alignment along the transport chain is successful«, said HHLA´s Chairman of Executive Board Klaus-Dieter Peters. He expects to see volumes recover in the container segment over the course of the year and a slight slowdown in the volume dynamics for the Intermodal segment. »Our forecast for the full year of a slight increase in revenue and an operating result for the Group on par with the previous year therefore remains unchanged«, Peters commented. According tot he company, a decrease in the volatile feeder traffic and a lower degree of capacity utilisation of the liner services led to a clear drop in volumes in seaborne container handling.
