Finferries offering sea and lake ro-pax services in Finland, has ordered a new hybrid ferry at the Polish shipyard[ds_preview] Crist. The 96.35m long and 15.2m wide »Ferry P310« project, will be able to accommodate 372 passengers and 90 cars. The double ended ferry will feature a hybrid electric-diesel propulsion, combining a set of batteries and a diesel electricity generator functioning as a backup. The batteries will be charged automatically during loading and unloading of the ship. According to Crist, the set of batteries will have a minimum 10 years of battery life. It is said that the recharge time will take only seven minutes. The newbuilding is planned to enter service in summer 2017 on the route Parainen–Nauvo.
