Ocean shipping e-marketplace INTTRA has an[ds_preview]nounced that Philly Teixeira serves in the newly created role of President, EMEA. HANSA had the exclusive chance to talk to her prior to the announcement.

Based in Copenhagen, Ms. Teixeira is responsible for INTTRA’s EMEA financial, commercial and operational targets. She will be developing and maintaining high-level relationships with customers and partners, and strengthening INTTRA‘s business development efforts in the region.

Ms. Teixeira most recently served as Vice President Key Clients Management at Maersk. Prior to that, she was Vice President of Global Accounts, Marketing and e-Business at CMA CGM. She previously held leadership roles at FedEx, including Vice President Sales for EMEA, after beginning her career in logistics at DHL Global Forwarding. »I’ve had the privilege to work with customers across all key industries around the world, I have gained insight into their knowledge in terms of growth challenges and opportunities, along with data and trends analysis, giving them more proactive vision for how to create value,« Teixeira commented.

»We are now in the perfect time to bring the industry to a new era«

Explaining her motivation to take the newly created position at INTTRA, Teixeira said: »We estimate there is still around 50% of shipping that is still non digital, so there is still a long way to go. And INTTRA is a platform to facilitate more efficient global trade by driving technology. That is what fascinated me about the job.«

The new EMEA-President sees great challenges, but also opportunities ahead – for the company as well as for the whole industry. »If you look at supply chains, the weakest link in terms of innovation is still ocean shipping. The last major innovation was containerization and you have to go back to the 1970s for that. The customers are now expecting greater visibility, greater reliability and greater agility.«

According to Teixeira, the industry is evolving and this now the perfect moment for it because of the current economic climate. »Carriers need improve efficiency and reduce cost in other ways than asset optimization. We are now in the perfect time to bring the industry to a new era,« she said.

»We have made less progress in the shipping industry in terms of business analytics, using business intelligence to drive value to global shipping. INTTRA is at the forefront of leveraging these next generation analytics, driving major advancements.«

»The challenges are multiple, but the opportunities are even more«

In the regulatory area Teixeira sees obstacles for technologic advancement. But there also are a lot of challenges in the day-to-day business transactions, she says. »The challenges are multiple, but the opportunities are even more. It is not only about optimizing, it’s not only about changing behaviours it’s also driving the right intelligence to drive the right value.«

As a member of the Executive Committee Philly Teixeira will participate in the development and execution of the company’s overall growth strategy. »The new position is about getting closer to the customers. A lot of them are in Europe and this is about helping them prepare for tomorrow,« she said. Her function will also be facilitating and enhancing collaboration cross-functionally among the EMEA-teams and departments.

INTTRA’s neutral electronic transaction software platform connects over 225,000 shipping professionals with more than 50 Carriers and 110 software alliance partners. According to the company over 700,000 container orders are initiated on the platform each week, representing approximately 25% of global ocean container trade.
