The Norwegian ship owner Rederiet Stenersen has ordered energy storage solutions with WE Tech Solutions for a series of two 17,500 dwt chemical tankers, including an option of two more.
The ships are built by the Chinese shipyard Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding. Stenersen has also sel[ds_preview]ected WE Tech to deliver the permanent magnet shaft generator solution to these new builds.
WE Tech’s energy storage solution is based on batteries. It provides an energy reserve that is used for electrical load peak shaving as well as energy for black-out prevention.
The steel cutting of the first vessel took place in November last year.
The first ship is due for delivery in Q1 2018. The newbuildings are part of Stenersen‘s long term strategic plan of maintaining a young, modern & competitive fleet.
