Maersk hires EU lobbyist from Brussels

Danish chief lobbyist Simon Bergulf moves back to Copenhagen to sign for a management position at maritime giant Maersk. He will be succeeded by Casper Andersen.

Andersen has been appointed as the new Director for EU Affairs. He will head the Danish Shipowners‘ Association‘s repr[ds_preview]esentation in Brussels, which employs a team of four, the lobby group announced. Andersen will also join the management team at Danish Shipowners‘ Association with responsibility for EU relations.

The Danish Shipowners‘ Association has been represented in Brussels since 1989. The past eight years, the representation was headed by Simon Bergulf. He takes up a new position as Director of Regulatory Affairs in Maersk. Andersen starts as Director for EU Affairs the 3. April.

Casper Andersen is a great asset to our organisation as he has a deep understanding of how Bruxelles operates and has been involved in EU affairs throughout his career,« said Anne H. Steffensen, CEO of the Danish Shipowners‘ Association.

The new chief lobbyist already knows the scope of his work. He has previously been employed for many years at the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI), and as corporate public affairs advisor at the Danish Representation to the EU.

»I look forward to being part of an association and an industry that is characterized by a global outlook. As Denmark‘s largest export sector, shipping is dependent on open markets and an regulatory framework that is competitive internationally. My task is to continue a close dialogue with legislators and stakeholders in Brussels, so we together strengthen Europe as a maritime powerhouse,« he said.
