»MOL Triumph« is the name of the first of four new 20,150 TEU container ships for Japan’s Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL). It is scheduled for delivery at the end of March.

The four ultra-large container carriers were ordered in February 2015. They are built at Samsung Heavy Industries[ds_preview] (SHI) and they are even larger than »MSC Oscar« class that was built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) for Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC).

Even larger ships have been ordered

The »MOL Triumph« will be the largest container ship in the world. But this won’t rest a long time because Samsung  Heavy Industries (SHI) will soon deliver the first of six 21,100 TEU containerships for Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) that have been also ordered in 2015.

The 400 m long and 58.80 m wide »MOL Triumph« is scheduled for delivery on 27 March 2017, following final preparations for the ship’s maiden voyage. The vessel is expected to join THE Alliance FE2 loop connecting Asia and northern Europe.

According to own informations SHI plans to deliver 10 container vessels of 20,000 TEU or larger this year.
