The new VDTM (Virides Dynamic Torque Meter) is a shaft power meter of the latest generation. According to the maker[ds_preview] it offers a very high sampling frequency of 1 kHz and permanent calculation of the average value for the highest accuracy. Features also include the possibility to connect three mass-flow- or volume-flow meters as well as three temperature feelers (PT100). Other characteristics are a potential zero signal in- and output, a fuel totalisator and permanent data storage for three channels (HFO, LSFO, MGO) and permanent display of the specific fuel oil consumption (SFOC in g/kWh). The VDTM offers contactless energy transfer and data transfer by Bluetooth technology. No extra monitors are needed in the ECR, instead, the software can be displayed on all computers that are part of the ship’s LAN. Virides says, the system is fully independent from influences of the sea to the hull. For use as an engine controller it is also available as a redundancy type. It provides several output signals for other systems.

The VDTM shaft power meter will be supplied ready preadjusted for simple installation on board. It is available in different types for a measuring distance on the shaft 250mm or 500mm and for shaft diameters up to 1,100mm.

Virides Solutions is known by the take over of the fuel treatment products of the old LEMAG Lehmann & Michels.
