Management shakeup at ShipServ

Only two weeks after appointing Henrik Hyldahn, e-procurement specialist ShipServ now announces more changes at the top-management level.

»The moves will enable the company to drive its ambitious growth strategy, including the development and delivery of a range of new products a[ds_preview]nd features in 2018«, ShipServ said in a statememt. Former executive vice president & chief legal officer, Mikael Weis has moved into the position of COO, where his main focus will be to ensure that ShipServ continues to meet the needs of its existing and prospective customers. Having served as senior vice president for 14 years, Don Staffin has been appointed to executive vice president – responsible for the company’s business operations in the Americas, as well as global partner relationships, and initiatives in the cruise industry.

ShipServ describes itself as the largest e-procurement platform for the marine, oil and gas industries, connecting purchasers (shipowners, managers, repair yards and oil rigs) with suppliers of spares, stores. It says it is  currently facilitating 3 Bn $ of annual trade from over 200 buying companies, »managing over 9,000 vessels and trading with over 65,000 suppliers in over 100 countries around the world.«

Mikael Weis’ appointment will have effect on the work of CEO newly appointed CEO Kim Skaarup as well: »Having Mikael assume the role of COO will also enable me to focus on delivering a number of key strategic initiatives, along with the newly announced SVP position held by Henrik Hyldahn, which we hope will drive real innovation in the maritime sector.«
