The Norwegian company MMC Green Technology has received more orders for its[ds_preview] ballast water management system (BWMS). The special purpose vessel »Ceona Amazon«, which is being built at the German shipyard Lloyd Werft in Bremerhaven, will be fitted out with MMC’s BWMS. With almost 200m in length, 32.2m width and a draft of 8.0m, the pipe-laying ship will be engaged in high seas for the Dutch company Huisman. »Ceona Amazon« will have a large capacity for the storage of pipes under/on deck which makes her independent of cost-intensive logistic spots. The delivery of the vessel is scheduled for autumn 2014.

According to MMC the system is one of the smallest in the market. It is based on particle filtration and UV-treatment and got its type approval from DNV. The devices are available from 100 to 1,200m3/h and can be delivered in modules or as tailor-made skids. The power consumption is 14 kW at maximum load for 150m3/h.

In total, MMC has secured 36 orders for its BWMS so far, whereof 15 systems have been commissioned abroad in Spain, Turkey, Germany, Singapore and China. A prototype is currently in use at the Havyard-designed offshore supply vessel »Havila Subsea«, while other systems have already been installed on ships in service or are being delivered shortly.
