New HANSA chief editor appointed

Krischan Förster has been appointed new chief editor of HANSA with effect[ds_preview] from 1 September. He has been working at Schiffahrts-Verlag »Hansa« for two years and his recent position was deputy chief editor at the international maritime journal. As chief editor of »Binnenschifffahrt« he significantly enhanced this sister publication in terms of content and visual design at the same time. Förster will continue to be in charge of »Binnenschifffahrt« in his new role as chief editor of both magazines. Prior to his current positions, the experienced journalist worked as an editor at »Weser-Kurier« Bremen, focused on maritime business and accounted for a weekly news page on shipping and ports. In addition to further awards Förster won the »Deutscher Journalistenpreis Wirtschaft/Börse/Finanzen« in 2011.

Nikos Späth, until then chief editor of HANSA and deputy chief editor of »Binnenschifffahrt«, has left the publishing house at his own request after more than three and a half years to meet new challenges in the maritime economy. Schiffahrts-Verlag »Hansa« wants to thank him for his great commitment to the magazines and conferences, above all the annual HANSA-Forum, and wishes him all the best and continued success for his professional as well as personal future.

As of 1 July, HANSA and »Binnenschifffahrt« have already been supported by Michael Meyer as executive editor. The qualified shipping businessman and graduate in political science worked for the Hamburg-based daily maritime paper »Täglicher Hafenbericht« (THB) for five years prior to his new job.
