Shipowner NSB plans to order up to nine container ships with a[ds_preview] capacity of 5,000 TEU each. A letter of intent was signed with the Chinese Navy shipyard Sainty Marine. The state-controlled ship-yard has confirmed the signing of the letter. Accordingly, NSB wants to place four orders with the option of five further newbuildings. Each containership has a contract value of approximately 70 mill. €. The delivery is scheduled for 2017.
»The agreement is valid as soon as the first payment is made,« it is said in a statement by the shipbuilding company from Shenzhen. NSB is one of the largest German shipping companies. The fleet includes 58 container ships, six product tankers and two oil tankers. The ship management also operates two offshore installation vessels.
