Customized Ro-Pax for China

For the Chinese market Knud E. Hansen has designed a Ro-Pax[ds_preview] vessel, the »Shan Sha 1«. According to information by Knud E. Hansen the ship is intended for transportation of passengers and cargo for unrestricted service and will be engaged primarily in the comprehensive supply for the Xisha, Nansha and Zhongsha islands in the South China Sea, belonging to the city of Sansha.

The vessel is a conventional propulsion Ro-Ro/passenger vessel designed to transport vehicle and containers on a single cargo deck. As the ship designer stated, it complies with Chinese Classification Society rules and Chinese flag regulations. The vessel was already built and delivered by Chinese Bohai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry in Huludao Port.

The lenght over all of the 2,400 dwt ship is 120m, the width 21m. It is designed for up to 444 passengers, 20 trailers or 140 cars and 91 crew members. Equipped with a 8,660kW Diesel engine the »Shan Sha 1« is designed to travel at a speed of 18kn.
