The »successful and rapid« first bunkering of the around 94 m long ferry had been carried out by the experts of Bomin Linde LNG, the shipping company said. After completing the safety voters, 40 m3 LNG could be transferred into the tank of Borkum ferry within a short time. Following the first bunkering by Brenn- und Verformtechnik Bremen (BAT) the retrofitted passenger ferry will run several tests. From the middle of the year the first LNG ship under German flag can start with the daily scheduled service between Emden and the North Sea island Borkum. Through the annual amount of LNG fuel delivered by Bomin Linde LNG the »Ostfriesland« could save over more than 1 mill. liters of marine diesel, Bomin Linde told.
