The Hamburg-based company Becker Marine Systems presented its 1,00th Becker Mewis[ds_preview] Duct® at Nor-Shipping in Norway. The use of all ducts previously delivered has already lowered CO2 emissions by more than 1.4 mill. t, said Becker. Mewis Duct® has not only turned out to be a successful product but also helped reinforcing the aim of attaining greater sustainability in the global shipping industry. The original milestone duct was put on display at the entry area to the trade fair. Following Nor-Shipping, the 1,000th Becker Mewis Duct® will be fitted onto a newbuilding – a 22,000 m3 LPG carrier.
The Becker Twisted Fin® was also presented. Becker Marine Systems recently received new orders for 20 of these nozzles that are also energy saving devices. The expertise of the global market leader for high-performance rudders with manoeuvring systems is underscored by the current order for the world›s largest flap rudder measuring approx. 80 m2. It will provide a 19,200 TEU container ship with optimal manoeuvring capabilities.
