Deugro and Siemens Wind Power have announced a long term contract for[ds_preview] the transport of more upcoming offshore wind turbine projects. Offshore wind logistics is generally improved by this agreement: Transport costs are decreased by 20%, Siemens said. They will use two new ro-ro vessles to transport bulky offshore installations. Additionally, the minimization of crane usage will save costs and increase safety significantly. The vessels are designed to be multi-flexible to allow for both ro-ro and lo-lo operations and at the same time keep cargo under deck. Offshore components like rotors and machine houses will not be loaded by crane any longer.
