The joint venture of Italian shipyard Fincantieri and Chinese shipyard group CSSC[ds_preview] has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Carnival Corporation and investor CIC Capital for the construction of two newbuildings. The vessels based on the Vista class design will be built at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) and target the Chinese market. Fincantieri has already built several vessels of this class for Carnival. The order has yet to be finalized and financing to be secured. According to Fincantieri the order includes options for two more vessels of the same type. The first delivery is scheduled for 2022.
