Humphree, the world’s leading manufacturer of interceptors, is pleased to release a[ds_preview] new drive functionality option for its interceptor trim systems.

When turning a boat in planing or semi planing speeds the boat will and shall heel to some extent. However in many cases the boat heels too much and in some cases not enough, resulting in an unpleasant feeling for the people onboard.

In order to increase onboard comfort and safety, Humphree have released a new function named CTOS – Coordinated Turn Optimisation System. CTOS will continuously monitor the rudder position and during the turn, the interceptor blade movement is automatically coordinated with the rudder movement in order to create a heel angle that is comfortable and safe. This is very similar to how it works in an aircraft to achieve a perfect turn. Turning ability can also be significantly improved. »With CTOS, we open the door to a completely new experience in terms of ship comfort and handling« says Christer Widmark, president of the company.

CTOS can provide:

• Reduced or increased heel angle during turning for improved comfort and safety

• Possibility to turn tighter

• Maintain higher speed during turning.

The company have a number of interface options meaning that the system can be integrated to most steering systems on the market.
