Acoustic Manual has been updated

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The very popular Rockwool Marine & Offshore Acoustic Manual, which has established itself[ds_preview] as an important reference guide in the market, has been updated with a third edition, featuring many important new measurements. The guide offers insight into the complex and increasingly important matter of sound.

Based on a growing need in the market for information on sound insulation, it contains an extended range of measurements in the sound absorption and –reduction areas, as well as within dynamic stiffness. Inquiries on new measurements for fire rated constructions, as well as the introduction of new products, such as the Rockwool Marine Acoustic Foil, have led to the updated guide.

Within the extended range of sound absorption, new measurements for Rockwool Marine Acoustic Foil have been included. This is a 19 my foil, which has the special properties of combining the quality of absorbing oil moist without destroying the excellent sound absorption properties. In combination with a perforated steel plate, the foil has been tested for low flame spread and is now being marine certified as a system.

Further, a range of additional sound reduction measurements for alternative constructions have been included in the new Acoustic Manual. Amongst other topics, the extended range now includes measurements of solutions combining fire and thermal insulation, aluminium A-constructions, corrugated steel constructions, as well as a range of new H constructions.

Information and measurements of dynamic stiffness of the Rockwool Marine Slab 140 has also been added to the Manual. This is the most commonly used product for floating floors.

Marketing manager, Jan Sandler comments: “We have noticed that the focus on noise reduction onboard ships and oil platforms is becoming increasingly important. The requirements are becoming stricter, especially within the ‘high end’ part of the market, such as yachts and cruise liners. I think we entered this market at the right time and therefore, in many ways, we have been first movers.”

The new Acoustic Manual will be available for download online, alternatively a print version can be ordered from Rockwool Marine and Offshore.
