DP system for the famous research vessel »Akademik Mstislav Keldysh«

Navis Engineering Oy has been contracted by the Dutch company Alphatron Marine[ds_preview] BV to supply a DP-1 system for the legendary research vessel »Akademik Mstislav Keldysh«. The ship is known to have been filmed in James Cameron’s Titanic movie as the support vessel of the unique Mir submersibles. Keldysh was also involved in the search for the Soviet submarine K-278 Komsomolets.

It is the first Navis dynamic positioning system out of more than 290 already delivered or contracted to be installed onboard the vessel under certification of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.

The R/V »Akademik Mstislav Keldysh« is a 6,240 ton Russian scientific research vessel, which was built by Hollming OY of Finland in 1981 and is owned and operated by the Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, homeported in Kaliningrad.
