Østensjø Rederi is developing a new diesel-electric propulsion system that will need about 15% less energy than conventional PSVs[ds_preview] (platform supply vessels). Once again, Østensjø has decided in favor of Voith Schneider Propellers (VSP) for its new vessel, Voith Turbo told in Oslo. This is not least the result of more than four years of positive experiences with the first PSV »Edda Fram«. Two efficient VSP 32R5 ECR-300-2 will drive the new ship, and the application window is further extended by the effective Voith Roll Stabilization. The ship will be 93 m long and 20 m wide and is to be built at Gondan shipyard in Spain. Delivery is scheduled for September 2013.
