The contracts for the former HDW Gaarden GmbH in Kiel entered into[ds_preview] force on September 1. 2011. Abu Dhabi Mar Kiel GmbH starts with 172 employees, the facilities, equipment and infrastructure of the former HDW Gaarden, working on first orders of its target markets offshore, mega yachts and construction of special vessels.
Management Directors of this new company are Susanne Wiegand and Holger Kahl. Christian Schmitt, who already held a leading position at HDW Gaaden’s surface vessel division for several years, is the operations manager. Currently the Yard is building a yacht (75 m) and an offshore transformer platform. An order for a second platform has been placed. Further projects in the company’s main fields of activity are in progress. These projects will guarantee full capacity utilisation in the future. A close cooperation with Nobiskrug GmbH in Rendsburg providing major services, has been established for long-term and optimal utilisation and a competitive cost structure.
