Groupage service for food started

DHL Global Forwarding has introduced[ds_preview] a groupage service for temperature sensitive foods, mainly European specialities such as wine, sweets or pastry. The first line of the so-called »Cool LCL-Service« is going to be established from Hamburg to Dubai and Singapore, others will follow.

Safmarine taken over

Maersk daughter Safmarine is being transformed into a fully owned subsidiary of the shipping line. Its headquarters in Belgium are to be closed, as well as offices in different cities all over the world. Up to 240 jobs will be affected, Maersk said.

BLG expands its activities in Russia

Bremen based BLG Logistics Group has formed a joint venture with the Russian shipping and transportation company Fesco. The aim is to develop integrated logistics solutions for the automotive industry in Russia. Initially, 10 million € will be invested into the project. The new company will include port handling operation for vehicles in St.-Petersburg.

HHLA opens new hub in Poland

Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) and the rail operator Polzug Intermodal have opened a hub terminal near the Polish city of Poznán. The cutting-edge site – the first of its kind in Poland – now allows daily shuttle trains to be run between the North European sea ports and Poznán. This reduces transport times between Hamburg and Poznán alone by about a third.
