Contract for four offshore vessels

Rolls-Royce has concluded a contract about 45 mill. £ with the Korean[ds_preview] shipbuilder Hyundai Mipo Dockyard to design and equip four deepwater platform supply vessels, including options for further two vessels.

The vessel designs are UT 776 CD – a development of the UT 700 series, especially for supplying equipment and services to deepwater oil and gas platforms.

The 4,400 t, 97 m long vessels will feature a range of Rolls-Royce equipment including a diesel-electric propulsion system, azimuth and transverse thrusters, passive stabilizing system, automation and control systems, power electric system and a dynamic positioning system (DP2). The range of deck machinery on board will  include a bulk handling system.

The vessels will be built at the Hyundai’s shipyard in Ulsan, Korea, and are due to be delivered in 2013 and 2014.

Furthermore Rolls-Royce won its first order for a new ship -developed for transporting live fish. The customer is Sølvtrans. In order to transport live fish efficiently and in a healthy con-dition temperature-controlled tanks are required.The NVC 386 design features diesel-electric propulsion with two Bergen C6 diesel engines and a hybrid shaft generator.
