The global engineering group Cavotec has won multiple orders for its innovative[ds_preview] shore-to-ship electrical power systems at the p. These projects follow several orders for similar systems throughout California. The company will supply a large number of »Easy Lift« access covers and shore power connection boxes for four separate container terminals at the port. The units, which are built into the quayside, avoid operator stress and injury by reducing lift weights to a minimum. The AMP systems enable vessels to switch off their engines while docked and to connect to shore side electricity. The Group’s shore power systems are increasingly widely used at ports on the US west coast as well as in Canada, Europe and the Far East.

Furthermore, Cavotec secured three orders for motorised cable reels for installation on ship-to-shore cranes and rail-mounted gantry cranes at new container terminal at Jebel Ali Port in the United Arab Emirates. The port equipment manufacturer ZPMC and TGPC, a regional leader in design, construction and after sales service of cranes, have ordered the equipment, which will be used to power 19 STS and 50 RMG cranes. Under the Terminal 3 project, DP World is currently developing 1,600 m of quay wall and 70 ha of yard space for the new container terminal within the existing port area. When completed, the facility is expected to handle some 4 mill. TEU annually.
