SAM Electronics together with its associated L-3 companies has supplied a[ds_preview] range of navigation, automation and entertainment equipment for Celebrity Cruises’ new »Celebrity Reflection«, delivered in October 2012. The bridge equipment includes SAM’s Nacos 65-5 integrated navigation command assembly consisting of five S- and X-band radars serially linked to five Multipilot 1100 workstations for the combined display of ARPA radar, ECDIS and conning functions, as well as integrated operation of automatic steering control. Additional Multipilot consoles are also installed on both the starboard and port wing areas along with SAM’s Chartpilot 1100 ECDIS and voyage planning units as well as secondary navigation display facilities.

Controls for regulation of the vessels machinery, air conditioning and emergency shutdown requirements were provided by L-3 Valmarine’s Integrated Automation System (IAS). IAS is capable of processing approximately 16,000 control and monitoring signals of which approximately 9,500 are hard-wired, with the remainder fed from serial lines. The operator interface comprises five multifunction workstations located in the engine control room, on the bridge and in a designated safety center. There are also connection points for laptop PCs in machinery spaces and air handling unit rooms, while the emergency shutdown system operates independently via an interface to the IAS communications network.

Additionally, audio and video entertainment products were integrated and installed by L-3 Funa International. The provided AV systems include internal and external lighting control and PA networks, hospital and safety call systems, and dedicated sound-powered telephone and talk-back amenities.
