A further ballast water treatment system entered into the market as Norwegian[ds_preview] company MMC Green Technology – founded in 2010 as an individual company within MMC – has introduced its ballast water management system MMC BWMS at the Nor-Shipping. In December last year the system, which bases on particle filtration and UV-treatment, got type approval from DNV. According to MMC the system should be the smallest on the market. The systems are available from 100 to 1,200 m3/h, and can be delivered in modules and as tailor-made skids. The power consumption is specified 14 kW at maximum load for 150 m3/h.
»We have commissioned two of these systems. The prototype is today in use on the Havyard designed offshore supply vessel »Havila Subsea«, whereas the other system is installed on a ship that will be delivered shortly,« says General Manager Håvard Gjelseth, one of the three founders of MMC. Shortly before they sold the first system abroad, to a shipyard in Spain.
