Software provider Aveva announced today that it has further strengthened its Marine[ds_preview] software portfolio.

»Mechanical Equipment Interface«: This application for im- and exporting of 3D models from/to the third-party CAD systems enables now more flexibility in handling of large and complex equipment models by managing their design hierachies, when described in the original 3D CAD system.

»Steel Outfitting«: Attention is usually focused on the specification and routing of pipes, HVAC ducts and cable trays, but steel outfit is also an important discipline where productivity increases can be valuable. Aveva now provides more efficient ways to model the many small steel outfit items, such as equipment foundations, furthermore a direct link to generate production information in the same way as for hull parts.

»Pipe Fabrication«: Intelligent rules, configured to the yard’s individual pipe fabrication equipment, enable the designer to create high quality, least-cost pipe runs quickly and efficiently. Rule-based, »fit-for-purpose« design and fabrication checks make sure that every pipe can be produced efficiently in the workshops.

»Automated Plate Nesting«: This new product features the most efficient set of plate nesting algorithms available, ensuring minimum wastage of costly raw materials.
