Engines for Turkish double-ended ferries

Rolls-Royce Power Systems has won a contract to supply six MTU[ds_preview] diesel engines for three Turkish double-ended ferries. The three new ferries will be built by the Turkish Ceksan Shipyard and used by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality in the bay of the western Turkish city of Izmir for the transport of passengers and vehicles. Each ferry will thus be equipped with two engines of the MTU Series 4000. It is the first order of the operator Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. And the shipyard is also installing MTU engines for the first time. The applied MTU Type 16V 4000 M54 has a capacity of 1,685 kw. The double-ended ferries will each feature a motor in the bow and in the rear.
