China Sonangol orders 50 boats

Spanish shipyard Rodman Polyships has signed a contract with Chinese-Angolan joint[ds_preview] venture China Sonangol for the construction and supply of 40 units of the Rodman 33 model, a high speed patrol boat, and ten 84ft catamarans, with capacity for 350 people. Polyships is dedicated to the construction of all type of boats in Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP). According to Rodman the total amount of the order is over 25Mio.€ and has a deadline of 21 months.

The shipyard expects to deliver the 40 patrol boats through 2015 and the catamarans before May 2016. The 40 units of the Rodman 33 will be built after another 40 units for Saudi Arabian Border Guard which shall be completely delivered by the end of this year. With 11,4m length and a 3,4m beam, the patrol boats will be powered with two 350HP outboard engines, allowing them to reach a maximum speed of 55kn. At a 33kn cruising speed the range is 230 nm.
