Rotterdam based shipping company NileDutch has named its third newbuilding »NileDutch Antwerpen[ds_preview]« in Antwerp. The naming ceremony was attended by representatives of the embassies in Belgium of Angola, Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Netherlands.

The dimensions and deck equipment of the four new container vessels are tailored to the ports they will serve in West Africa. This will enable NileDutch to serve this key market even better. Each vessel has a capacity of 3,510TEU (1,530 in the holds and 1,980 on the hatch covers). According to the company the 20,000 kW engines will ensure operational efficiency and a low environmental impact. The vessels have a length over all of 224m, beam (width) of 34.8m and a draft of 12.5m.

The newbuildings will operate on NileDutch’s West Africa–Far East rotation. They will be registered in the Netherlands.
