The marine life-saving systems expert Norsafe has improved the release gear for lifeboats with the updated TOR MKII on[ds_preview]-load release hook. The Norwegians are thus responsive to market requests. Another new design is the GES 21, a totally enclosed lifeboat that can take up to 26 people and is suitable for all ships using free-fall lifeboats including LNG, chemical and dry bulk vessels. The boat can be launched from a hydraulic ramp, which ensures that the vessel enters the water at a safe distance from the ship with significant forward motion. The GES 21 is boarded through an aft door, with easy access to the seats.. According to the manufacturer all equipment was designed to ensure the lowest possible emission of sound and to provide good access for service and maintenance. The lifeboat has a length of 6.5m and a beam of 2.6m. It provides a secure and protected means of escape for persons onboard vessels or platforms with a maximum drop height of 20m. The weight of the boat including all equipment is 3.655 kg.
