From September 22 to 25, 2010, this traditional exhibition shows latest creations and innovations of the world’s most beautiful yachts in the Principality of Monaco – now for the 20th time. Once a year when summertime ends, MYS gives an opportunity to yachts building yards and its adjacent industries to presents their unique products while the customers of luxury boats can obtain an overview of the state-of-the-art technology for their individual taste – and funds available.

In 2009 around 27,000 visitors attended the stands of the about 500 companies exhibiting 100 of the loveliest ships in[ds_preview] the world. Besides private customers a lot of professionals, journalists and media representatives visited the MYS. It will be interesting to observe the scene which – after a strong growth for many years – experienced a notable slump in the wake of the international downturn in 2009. According to the show organizers they promise »an event in 2010 that will, if anything, be stronger and better attended than in years gone by«.

Confirming the success it enjoyed during its premier participation during last years show, the Swiss watchmaker, Ulysse Nardin, has again renewed their official sponsorship agreement with MYS. The company will use the event to provide exclusive exposure of its range of precious and exclusive limited edition »Monaco Y.S.« timepieces to the world’s most elite professional and private clientele.

Also, recognising the value of its association with the world’s leading superyacht show, the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority have returned again to join forces with the Monaco Yacht Show organisers to become a leading sponsor in 2010.

Eager to support green projects, and true to its established environmental integrity, the MYS will once again demonstrate its ecological credentials by partnering with organisations seeking to protect the planet. The exhibits at the show, occupying some 9,000 m2 of display area are, as always, centred on Monaco’s Port Hercules. Exhibitors annually choose the Monaco Yacht Show as the venue at which to launch or highlight the best of their services and products, with yacht builders frequently using the show for the world debut of their most stunning new superyachts. The result is that each year the show surpasses that of the previous year. By backing up these exhibits with essential support the MYS organisers will continue to ensure the success of this extraordinary Show, both on land and water.

The past year has not been kind to those involved in the super yacht world; those who will display at the 2010 show are doing so because they have demonstrated that they have staying power, a result of the drive, efficiency and quality of product that has seen them through the past year.

The Monaco Yacht Show 2010 promises to be the international business hub for the yachting and luxury sectors: 500 major companies exhibiting – 88 % being returnees, who certainly prove how important the MYS is to the industry –, a fleet of 100 magnificent super yachts from 25 m up to 90 m in length, plus upwards of 27,000 private and business visitors expected. The undeniable quality of business networking offered by the MYS is an important factor in its exhibitors’ success: the cocktail parties, social events, breakfast discussions and press conferences that participating companies organise on board yachts and in the Principality’s luxury hotels provide ideal opportunities for making B2B and B2C contacts. At least 50 such events will be held in the Principality of Monaco during the four intensive days of the show.

The global economic climate having highlighted the limitations of the luxury yachting industry’s dependence on its existing clientele, it is with the ambition of seducing new ultra-high-net-worth potential buyers that the shipyards, brokerage and charter companies are energetically spreading the word through their social networks that their finest super yachts will be on display in Monaco. Winning over these new clients is the guarantee of a strong, healthy long-term market for the entire industry, equipment and service suppliers included.

Gaëlle Tallarida, recently appointed Managing Director of the Monaco Yacht Show following Luc Pettavino’s departure last May, reaffirmed the constant striving of the show for excellence: »Year after year, the MYS continues improving the quality of its infrastructures and services so as to attract the biggest players in super yachting and the elite among the international private and professional clienteles. We are here to serve an international-scale project and to fulfil a business sector’s expectations, so that the Monaco Yacht Show continues to be the world’s leading luxury yachting show.

Of the 100 super yachts on this September, around 30 were delivered in 2010 and another 24 launched in 2009; 64 % are more than 40 m in length. This makes the MYS a unique yacht market since more than half the craft exhibited are less than a year old. All are offered for sale and / or hire by the brokers and shipyards exhibiting.

The shipyards take advantage of the extraordinary opportunity the MYS offers to unveil their very latest craft.
