The superyacht industry with their highly sophisticated projects makes up a relatively large part of German’s shipbuildung industry. Mega yacht[ds_preview] contracts contributed more than one quarter to the orderbook value of German yards as per end of 2009. And no less than eight of the ten largest superyachts in service last year have been built in Germany. Mainly in the 60 to 160 m range German shipbuilders are leading the cream of the crop worldwide.

This is the natural consequence of the fact that our shipbuilders and suppliers focus on market niches such as innovative and specialised construction. Although the last nineteen months have been an extremly challenging time for the whole shipbuilding industry affecting all involved in the field of yachting, most of the yards succeeded in increasing their efficiency, strengthening their technologic leadership and approaching new markets with innovative products.
