In 2011 one of the highlights of the 24 cruise ships’ calls at the port of Lübeck was the visit[ds_preview] of »Queen Elizabeth« with 294 m in length. Only twelve calls of cruise ships in the Baltic Sea port are listed in 2012. One reason for the recession is the insolvency of a cruise shipping company which had been a frequent customer. Also the luxury cruise vessel »Deutschland« will berth only two times at the start of the season, usually she was coming four to five times per year. This year she will sail to London as Olympia ship. In addition, the expedition cruise ship »Bremen«, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ »Europa« and the »Prinsendam« will visit Lübeck port. In the context of the year of science »Hansa meets Humboldt« the newly built bark »Alexander von Humboldt II« will stay for three days.
