The ninth ship in the Aida fleet will be christened »Aida Mar« in May 2012. During a ship parade on[ds_preview] the River Elbe, the new ship will be accompanied by her sisters »Aida Blu«, »Aida Luna« and »Aida Sol«. Following the naming celebration in Hamburg, the vessel will embark on her premiere season in northern Europe.

Like her sisterships, »Aida Mar« is 252 m long, has a beam of 32.2 m and weighs 71,100 GT. The vessel has 1,097 passenger cabins, 39 of which provide direct access

to the wellness area. Covering a space of 2,602 m2, the spa section with its sauna facility is one of the largest floating wellness centers at all. One of the highlights of the ship is the 42-inch LED flatscreen, which turns inside cabins into virtual outside cabins, providing a view of the sea or fascinating destinations.

The vessel is being built at Meyer Shipyard in Papenburg. Directly following her delivery in April the shipyard will start building the next cruise vessel for Aida, »Aida Stella«. She will set course for her maiden voyage through northern Europe in March 2013 after the christening ceremony. »Aida Stella« will also spend her premiere season in northern climes, embarking on two-week cruises from Hamburg starting in May 2013.
