The 9th International Sym­posium Information on Ships (ISIS) on 30/31 August 2012 in Hamburg will address the benefits[ds_preview] and challenges of up-to-date information technologies on board of ships, the proper use of information, practical experiences using new information systems and the role of humans in the information-loaded environment. Technologies, applications, and projects should be presented under the aspects: What is new and in progress? What is possible and design­able? What should be done? What is problematic?

Main topics will be as follows:

• bridge resource management

• operational integration aboard and ashore

• functional integration

• e-navigation processes

• sensors and components

• visions and strategies in the next years

Authors are invited to submit papers on any of the above topics for consideration by the programme committee. Abstracts of about 300–500 words (in electronic form) should be sent by 25 April 2012 to:
