The transient simulation of ice impact scenarios by now became an integral part of classification requirements. This development is forcing[ds_preview] OEM and suppliers into simulation technologies, which are significantly different from the classical steady-state analysis commonly applied in the past. This paper introduces modelling and simulation methods, which permit transient and steady-state analysis to operate on the same model base. We also present recent developments in propeller modelling which incorporate the established methods for both worlds and are in the process to be certified by Germanischer Lloyd for compliance with the classification rules.
