Johnson Controls, a global multi-industrial company, recently introduced York Magnetic Centrifugal Chiller (YMC2) in Singapore. Initially developed for naval[ds_preview] applications, the magnetic-bearing technology has been applied in more than 115 critical naval installations globally, including nuclear submarines. This technology is now part of the York Chiller and available to commercial and industrial customers in Singapore. The YMC2 chiller is suitable for application in high-performance facilities such as healthcare, education and sound sensitive buildings where energy-efficiency, high reliability and noise control are demanded. According to Johnson 20% of all seagoing vessels worldwide have HVAC equipment by the company installed. Johnson is also global leader in cooling and refrigeration for cruise and passenger ships.

In December 2013, Johnson Controls took a 60% stake in the global air-conditioning business of Hitachi Ltd., under a joint venture. The companies said the joint venture is expected to launch in 2014, subject to regulatory and other approvals. The non-binding memorandum of understanding (MOU) will thus result in the creation of the world’s largest provider of commercial air conditioning.
