Friendship Systems has announced that the latest release of CAESES is now shipped. CAESES 4.0 (formerly known as Friendship-Framework[ds_preview]) is a software system for Upfront Computer Aided Engineering. It is used by major players in the maritime industry and in turbo-machinery for shape optimization of hull forms, propellers, energy-saving devices, brackets and rudders. »CAESES easily connects to any external simulation code, most notably to Computational Fluid Dynamics codes (CFD) such as STAR-CCM+, FINE/Marine, CFX and openfoam«, Friendship Systems states.

The company is located in Berlin/Potsdam. As of 1 January 2015 it is a privately held stock corporation.

The industry has seen a major shift towards CFD over the past years. Today, almost all flow-related shapes are analyzed early into the design process to achieve highest energy efficiency, best flow homogeneity and small pressure drop etc. By means of simulation-driven design, CAESES offers five key components for shape optimization: variable geometry, pre-processing, software connection to any external code, post-processing and optimization & assessment. »The latest version, CAESES 4.0, now features the most comprehensive parametric modeling tool kit, ranging from fully-parametric models to free-form deformation (FFD), and a broadened range of optimization strategies via a direct link to DAKOTA«, it is said. A free commercial license, called CAESES Free, is available for both Windows and Linux, see www.friendship-systems.com
