Marine glazing Brombach + Gess has announced to introduce a new cabin design for oceangoing and river cruise ships. The outer[ds_preview] area of the Loggia-Cabin Concept is designated as part of the cabin area and can be completely used as a private area. View and noise restrictions with respect to neighbouring cabins have been eliminated through closed sides of the former open area.

According to the company the new concept extends the area of the cabin by the size of the balcony. More space is thus made available to the guests and better-quality furnishings may also be offered. The new cabin type is outfitted with a horizontally divided panorama glass front. The upper part can be lowered down and provides a glazed balustrade whereby it forms a cabin with open space. In a closed position the moveable upper window and the fixed lower window are aligned to form a perfectly flat facade. The cabin can be divided by a simple sliding glass panel that should ensure that the indoor area remains protected against outdoor influences when the panorama window is open and the spacious former outdoor area is used as a »loggia«.

The concept includes an option to incorporate an integrated electrical window washing system. The former balcony area also no longer needs to be cleaned.

Also the maintenance and repair of the ship should be easier. The visual closed shell plate of the ship through the Loggia-Cabin Design reduces the resistance of the ship and additionally results in a reduction of wind noise which makes the ship more comfortable Brombach + Gess stated.

This new Loggia-Cabin Concept is claimed for a patent. A prototype is ready for testing and negotiations with customers has been started, the company told.
