Brombach + Gess has worked on different new challenges on the newbuilding »Anthem of the Seas« built by Meyer Werft, Papenburg[ds_preview]. This includes the glazing of the huge public areas. A highlight here are the sliding windows. With a frameless design across the entire surface they hardly stand out visually from the structural continuous window design. According to the company another special highlight which constituted an extraordinary challenge was the installation of the »RipCord by iFly« for the simulation of skydiving. The passengers have the opportunity to experience the free fall feeling in a huge glass funnel »glasstube« at the high seas. With a height of 7m and a diameter of 4m this glass funnel consists of four curved glasses with a weight of 1.5t each.

Brombach + Gess also proved its performance as a system supplier for the surf simulator »Flowrider«. The scope of supply was the construction, production and installation of windscreens, benches for the grandstand, shower partitions as well as the installation of masts for cameras and speakers. Particular to highlight is the glazing of the Ocean Vista area, a huge restaurant and event area at the lower end on Deck 05 reaching from Deck 5 to Deck 7. For this area, Brombach + Gess used for the first time the new glass product DUROmare. According to the company the benefit of DUROmare is the reduction of weight and thickness in conjunction with better optical quality, sound insulation, sun and heat protection coating. Especially on lower decks, were high loads resulting from wind and waves have to be sustained, the new DUROmare glass enables great weight savings up to 25% compared with conventional monolithic glasses.

The new glass is laminated with an inoplast interlayer which can, in comparison with PVB interlayers in standard laminations, transfer loads without friction from one pane to the next. This enables such a glass to withstand even higher loads as a single monolithic glass. The DUROmare glass is tested according ISO 914 and proofed by the classification Society DNV GL.
