The Port of Seattle as an important hub fo[ds_preview]r the US Northwestern markets has elected a new officers team. Commissioner Tom Albro will serve new as president.

Courtney Gregoire was elected as vice president. Stephanie Bowman will serve as secretary, Fred Felleman takes the position of assistant secretary, and John Creighton will be commissioner-at-large.

»It’s my privilege to serve as commission president,« said Albro. “I believe in servant leadership – the call of a leader to serve those who elected them. So my approach will be to help us all do our best and work effectively together. I look forward to the year ahead, which I’m sure will be busy.«

Founded in 1911, the »Port of Seattle« entity not only owns and operates seaport facilities but also the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. The maritime part is responsible for two cruise ship terminals, Fishermen’s Terminal — home of the North Pacific fishing fleet, one grain terminal, a public cargo terminal and four public marinas.

Together with Tacoma, Seattle forms the »Northwest Seaport Alliance«, acting as gate for routes between Asia and the U.S. Northwestern markets. In the course of 2016, the alliance was hit by the demise of Korean liner company Hanjin, who was an important client in Transpacific container trades.

One of the recent port projects in Seattle was an environmental review to redevelop Terminal 5 and make it »big-ship ready« in partnership with the Northwest Seaport Alliance.
