Norsafe has received orders from Kværner to supply three lifeboat systems of its largest free fall lifeboat, the GES 52, with compatible davits. Is is for Statoil’s Njord A platform.
The lifeboat systems are built according to SOLAS and DNV-OS-E406, and although the products were[ds_preview] developed just a few years ago, they have already been delivered to many installations worldwide. The contract is worth over 35 mill. Norwegian kroner and will be delivered in 2018 and 2019 Norsafe informs.
The Njord A platform is located in the Norwegian Sea
The upgrade of the platform is part of the project that Statoil has called »Njord Future« with the purpose of extending the life of the Njord field. The Njord field where the Njord A platform is normally stationed, lies approximately 130 km north west of Kristiansund and 30 km west of the Draugen field in the Norwegian Sea. Njord A was originally delivered in 1997 by the organisation that is known as Kværner today.
Norsafe has its headquarters in Arendal, Norway. According own information the company has produced over 28,000 boats since 1903. It has a worldwide involvement that includes production, sales, delivery and service of lifesaving equipment for ships and the offshore industry. Over the past 25 years, Norsafe has supplied rescue boats, patrol boats and special boats for the military and professional markets, with deliveries to police, SAR, coast guard, customs and the marine, etc.
