Inmarsat Maritime was honored with the Smart4Sea Excellent Award 2017 for its product Fleet Xpress.
The Greek company thereby recognizes benefits in safer, smarter and greener shipping.
According to Inmarsat Fleet Xpress provides the fast, reliable backbone for ship to shore c[ds_preview]onnectivity that is critical to the success of smart shipping applications. The product was launched in March 2016. Voters in the Smart4Sea Excellence Award 2017 category selected Fleet Xpress for its role in advancing shipping’s technological excellence and sustainability.
Fleet Xpress is powered by Inmarsat’s latest Ka-band satellite constellation, Global Xpress, complemented by the proven reliability of L-Band. The service is augmented by the Inmarsat Gateway, which hosts content-rich business applications for smart and efficient operations that currently include voyage optimisation and video surveillance.
Inmarsat works on cyber security solution
Further, Inmarsat is working with Singtel’s Trustwave to develop a ship-specific managed Unified Threat Management (UTM) cyber security solution which is due for launch within the coming months, and this will be offered as a standard option of the Fleet Xpress service.
