The Dutch Super-Heavylift-Joint Venture Bi[ds_preview]gRoll has received the third module carrier of its four-vessel order from Chinese shipyard Cosco Dalian.

The »BigRoll Baffin« is a sister of MC-Class newbuildings »BigRoll Barentsz« and »BigRoll Bering«, which were handed over earlier this year. Delivery of the last vessel of the series, »BigRoll Beaufort«, is expected in March 2017, BigRoll said in a statement.

The Finnish Swedish 1A Ice Class MC-Class vessels are explicitly designed for the marine transportation of major modules and equipment for large energy projects both on and offshore and »can deliver in the most remote and inaccessible areas«, as well in arctic regions. Operations are possible at temperatures up to -39 degrees, as well as in the Northern Sea Route along Russia‘s northern coast.

According to the owner, established two years ago as a joint venture of well-known players BigLift and RollDock, the deck carrier are prepared for DP2 and have a very high ballast capacity in order to reduce loading and discharge times, thereby also increasing safety levels during these operations. Decks are completely flush and can be used over the full length and beam for loading, discharging and stowage. »The deck strength is built up on a uniform grid of bulkheads and web frames«.
